Safety Features
All K9 Sport Sack Backpack Carriers are equipped with six standard safety features.
Collar Enclosure
Buckling and tightening this around your dogs neck will ensure your dog doesn't force itself up and out of the bag and helps prevent leaning as well. Be sure to tighten this enough.
Angled Side Cinch Straps
They help tighten the material around your dog, keeping he/she close to your shoulders and preventing your pet from leaning backwards.
Zipper Loop
The main loop on the zipper functions as a safety precaution mechanism to ensure your zipper remains zipped while your pet is in the carrier.
Carabiner Collar Clip
Use this to clip to your dog's collar, securing your pet inside your backpack carrier. It will prevent your pup from climbing out.
Side Ventilation
It is important that your pet's temperature is regulated while in a carrier. The mesh side panels allow for airflow to keep your dog comfortable.
No-Slip Zipper
Once the main zipper is zipped it will lock in place so that no weight or pressure will force it back open.

We started out with a smaller model that was uncomfortable for both my husband and I- we have wide shoulders. Support recommended we switch to the Knavigate. The team made the swap super easy. The Knavigate fits all of us perfectly. Schatzi our Dachshund loves it and we can take her comfortably on longer hikes. Has a big enough pocket to fit all her things in addition to a lot of ours. I would highly recommend!!

We just received the small for our Cavapoo. I ordered the spacer (booster seat); she is just a puppy, and it worked perfectly. She didn't resist a bit on the second attempt to get her into the pack. It has been some fantastic bonding time so far.

This is a great backpack! The weight distribution is perfect on my back. It doesn’t feel like it pulls on my shoulders like most packs do. My dog is in a comfortable position as well. I love the space under her too! Perfect for food, leash, etc. Ruby is 12.5 pounds and is a perfect fit in the small size.
Can’t recommend this brand enough!!! I bought one for my little amazing Frenchie Kasper. The bag was outstanding, Kasper got only to use it once to try in the living room as he got killed next day. But the response from the company was incredible. They wrote such an amazing little message and helped me return it no problem. Will my dog fit in a K9 Sport Sack carrier?
With a wide range of sizes and adjustability options the K9 Sport Sack® fits most small dogs, however, it is critical that the correct size is selected for your particular pup based on exact height/length measurements and not by breed or approximations. Please review our sizing page to ensure that you have the correct fit for the safest experience possible.
How do I train my dog to get in the K9 Sport Sack?
There is no one perfect method to train your dog to use the K9 Sport Sack® but we have included a few key examples on our videos page. In short, we have put over 30,000 dogs in our carriers and the more we practiced, the more dogs seemed to like being put in. Whatever method you and your dog settle on, DON'T GIVE UP! Use our Hints and Tricks and always remember to contact us for additional help or time to train your dog. It will be worth it!
How is my dog positioned and is it comfortable?
The K9 Sport Sack® was developed under the close direction of veterinarians, dog trainers and outdoor products engineers to ensure the maximum comfort for your pup. He/she sits in the “begging” position which is a natural short-term stance and as long as all of our Health and Safety policies are carefully studied and followed, all the proper Safety Features are employed and your dog is healthy when going in the carrier, he/she will be healthy when they come out.
Do most dogs enjoy the K9 Sport Sack?
Yes! That does not mean that all dogs will take to the K9 Sport Sack® right away and it may require some training and gentle prodding but roughly 95% of dogs eventually come to love the K9 Sport Sack®.
This breakdown is taken from our own customer feedback programs:
50% of dogs will take immediately to the K9 Sport Sack®.
30% of dogs will struggle the first time but with patience and the right tone of voice they will go in on that first try, realize what is going on and settle into the adventure.
10% of dogs will need some training to use the K9 Sport Sack®. Much like you had to train your dog to use the bathroom outside, some dogs will need several tries, some treats and just the right environment.
5% of dogs may require up to 90 days to become comfortable. If you are willing to try to train your dog for that amount of time then we are willing to extend warranties and offer whatever additional training and support necessary. Please contact customer support if you need additional training time.
5% of dogs will never acclimate to the carrier. For as sad as that makes us, some dogs simply do not have the personality for it. If your dog is one of these we strongly encourage you to take the time and effort necessary to determine that.

K9 Sport Sack® uses a variety of UPS shipping methods for all domestic orders over 1 lb. Please allow for 1-2 days of packaging before your item ships, 2-5 days if ordering a waterproofed or custom item.
UPS SurePost (2-7 business days, may be delivered via UPS or local post office)
UPS Ground (2-5 business days)
UPS 2nd Day (Allow 1 business day for packaging plus 2 business days)
UPS Next Day (Allow 1 business day for packaging plus 1 business day)
Items under 1 lb. are shipped via USPS First Class.
Shipping labels for orders are created between 7-9am MST Mondays-Fridays. Weekend orders will be processed the following Monday. If you need a package to be shipped same day, please call our customer support at 385.515.8908 and we will do all we can to help.
K9 Sport Sack® uses USPS or UPS for international orders and shipping times can vary from 2-5 weeks or 3-5 days depending on the method chosen at checkout.
International orders are subject to import taxes, customs, duties, and brokerage fees. Your order may be held by your customs office until fees are paid. In these cases K9 Sport Sack® is not responsible for collecting/charging these fees. Therefore, it is the duty of the customer to be aware of charges that may occur at the time of delivery/pickup for imported goods. If a package is refused for this reason a refund will not be issued until and if the package is returned to K9 Sport Sack®.
K9 Sport Sack® is not responsible for any delays in the shipment caused by invalid addresses, carrier delays, or custom duties/ taxes. If a delay does occur please contact your local post office or the carrier it was shipped with to find out more information.
If you are ordering internationally, it is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with your country's import and customs fees. You will likely be subject to these charges that are imposed and controlled by your country and not by K9 Sport Sack®. Therefore, K9 Sport Sack® will not pay for, supplement or otherwise be responsible for customs charges. Any order that is returned because of refused customs charges will be subject to a 20% restocking fee.
Is it safe?
When used correctly, extremely safe! When we designed the K9 Sport Sack® safety was our priority. A full diagram of the safety features can be found on each carrier product page.
Is it adjustable?
Yes! It is still most important to select the correct size but the K9 Sport Sack® is equipped with a system of straps and clips that snuggly secure and limit balance altering mobility. Be sure you familiarize yourself with our safety features and use them to ensure the maximum safety and comfort for you and your dog. Booster Blocks are also available to lift your dog 3" inside a carrier in case your pet is in between sizes or is still growing.
